I watched an exchange on YouTube between two entertainers. One used a “ethnic slur” and the other called him out on it. However, the other person claimed they could use that word because they now owned it as a “people”. I’m sorry but I don’t know how certain groups of people can own words. Especially if they have a root negative connotation.
I understand that words have meaning based on their context. To be fair, if they make you upset when others say it to or about you, what about how it makes others feel when you call your own people the same thing?
How about we expand our vocabulary and stop being stupid idiots?
